Mix 012: DJ Hybrid

An artist that has fast become a profound name within the jungle scene, releasing tracks on labels such as DJ Vapours ’36hertz’, Levela’s ‘Multi Function’ and ‘Digital Roots’, alongside his own imprints: ‘Deep In The Jungle’ and ‘Audio Addict Records’. Now confirmed for a range of forthcoming releases, including Ray Keith’s ‘Dread Recordings’ and remixing classics such as DJ Monk’s ‘Good Body Girl’, DJ Hybrid has managed to both establish himself as both a grounded and fast growing producer within his field.

Foundation EP 002

Our second free EP marks the progression made since our debut release in 2013, comprising of five tracks: three from our own artists, alongside two new members to the collective. Ordered in relation to tempo, the tracks touch base upon a range of genres whilst sharing an alternative approach to the concerned styles of music – a quality that both reflects our stance both as an event and brand.

Mix 011: Zha

Amongst the new wave of grime producers and DJ’s, Zha has placed himself in the front line. With support from the likes of Logan Sama, Spooky and DJ Cable, production has received continuous airtime on BBC Radio 1, Rinse and Deja Vu FM. Primarily a vinyl DJ, Zha stays true to his origin – recording a 3 deck mix on two turntables and a CDJ. 011 covers a range of material including old-school favourites, his own production and tracks forthcoming on ‘White Peach’ records. Expect to see Zha on our lineups in the next few months.

Mix 009: Habitat

Over the past two years, Ben Panks has firmly rooted into his new jungle alias – ‘Habitat’. Involving himself within the music industry back in 2004, Ben takes influence from a range of sources, spanning from reputable names in Drum and Bass to Hip Hop. A recent focus on production has allowed him to further showcase his unique sound both in the form of DJ’ing and tracks, releasing on Pure Vibez, ASBO and E Motion records. As one of the owners of Foundation, Ben has put together a special mix – 100% dubs form start to finish, presenting both a group of favourite producers and his many years of experience as a DJ.

Mix 008: Trends

Trends – an Oxford-based DJ/producer whose stripped back 8 bar sound is reminiscent of the early grime era, with influences stemming from the old school sounds. Having produced grime over the last 3 years, interest began to develop in his music during early 2013 with rotational support from Kahn & Neek, Spooky, Mak 10 and pioneers of grime Slimzee and Logan Sama. Mix: 007 Skwiffer

Introducing a new member to the Foundation Collective – Skwiffer, a DJ that has invested years of time into honing his craft. Covering both a deeper and more technical side to Drum and Bass via turntables and an extensive collection of vinyl, Skwiffer’s mixes demonstrate a profound knowledge of the genre, alongside a fine-combed selection that any enthusiast would approve of. Expect to see Skwiffer at our forthcoming events in 2014.

Mix 006: Aphix

Following his recent giveaway, we place the spotlight on Foundation resident Aphix: an artist who has both created and maintained a unique sound of his own. Years of experience and bookings established his well-earned reputation in DJ’ing, whilst a recent focus on production has led Aphix to delve into new territories. This mix serves as a perfect medium for presenting the talent and speciality he holds for his field of interest.

Aphix – Torn

Now at the end of 2013, Foundation resident Aphix has sent over one of his recent compositions to give away as a free download. ‘Torn’ quickly found its way onto Rinse FM and other reputable radio stations, alongside receiving support from established artists within the industry, such as Dusk & Blackdown, Wen and Last Japan. The track is a perfect example of Aphix’s signature sound: a reflective and futuristic combination of grime and garage, placing focus on the sinister elements present both genres. From everyone at Foundation, we wish you all a Happy New Year and look forward to sharing our plans for 2014.
